Creation vs Evolution

This subject is one which has divided nations, families and been the cause of many conflicts... I have pondered this in an attempt to undertand both sides and to balance my personal beliefs and my love of Science....
Over the past years the a concept has formed which appears to makes sense...
Tell what you think...

The Bible tell us that "God Created Heaven and then earth in 6 days and on the 7 day he/she rested..."
But thought accured to me that time in space is relative and we think of a day as the 24 hours we take to go the sun.... what if a day referred to a era... A day being the time it took to create and evolve ....
Day 1!
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

In the Beginning there was a Big Bang. The Earth was without form just dust until the formation began of the Galaxies . The sun takes shape and ignites... The Earth forms bathed in light... the Earth rotated into a study as she slowed and cooled began the passing of day and night. This Process takes 10 billions year approx.

Day 2
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

Earth as she cools is covered with a salty water, on day two God filters the waters the into salt and fresh. Allows the salted heavy water to sink and the fresh pure water to rise to the surface..
this process about 100,000,000 years

Day 3
And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
And the evening and the morning were the third day.

Through great upheavals on the Earth land began to rise out of the sea, fresh began to gather in hollows in her surface and be filtered through the soil and land. The land being dry spout and plants to take hold in the nutrient rich soils. As the plants grew larger in number and diversity the atmosphere gained more and more oxygen to allow the Earths to develop Seasons.... Day and night became set into a steady flow and the plants became adapted into their roles of either night or day. Again this process takes approx. 2.5 billion years...

Day 4
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

The Moon and Galaxies are forming along side the earth, suns in other worlds ignite to shine as stars upon the Earth. The Moon is Captured in the Earth Gravity and takes her place opposite to the sun and becomes the symbol for night as the sun is the sign for day....

Day 5
And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

The 1st life appears appears upon the Earth, moves within and out of the Oceans of the Earth. seeks out areas in which to grow. Bacteria and photo planktum....
Creatures grow and become adapted to the planet, 1st higher forms such as Jellyfish and worms appear. Then the 1st land animals start their cycle upon the earth....dinosaurs and insects , reptiles, Dinosaurs Rule and evolve into those we see to day and then Dinosaurs Die!
The Death of the Dinosaurs allowed the next great event to take place.... If the Dinosaurs had of survived then God would not have had the experience to get the next step right nor would the earth have been habitable for us..... this whole process takes about 2.5 billion years also....

Day 6
And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

As the Earth and the creatures which are left after the exinction of the dinosarus begin to grow and evolve we see the rise of the mammels and the Earliest "human"...... it is fair to say that after the beasts have been created the first Humans appear it would also be fair to say the several forms of humans would have also formed from the beasts which God placed upon the Earth, Neanderthals etc which showed themselves not equipped to stand up to the changing conditions which have been put upon them ie the Last Ice Age, it would have been just prior to this event that modern man arrived on the scene....Humans as we know them today us. This only takes around 5 million years... practice....

It is fair I think to argue this point.... The rules which a God may have set for us can only come about with planning...
In the Universe Time scales can seem vastly different then we see them here.....
As from what I have been told God is Immortal and as such would not view their time the same as ours, it would be also fair to think that allowing has creations to evolve, would give a God the power to weed out things which may not work properly hence the death of the Dinosaurs.....
This also would mean that both sides are right Science and Religion..... There is no reason, nothing in Biblical text that this is not the case......

Unless God had practiced on other forms of beings such as the dinosaurs Neaderthals and alike how would God know what works.....

The Alternate answer to the Question of Evolution vs Creation is that we are either just Accidents of nature or God practiced on other worlds until he/she got it right then came here..... this would mean intelligent life on other planets....

When the all bugs are worked out of the system then you make final copy to take over and run the workings.....

After it is now stranger to beleive an entity who lives forever can create a entire cosmos, life, and an entire eco system in the equivalant of 6 earth days than it is to think the same Being could take as long they wanted to get it right .... is it...

Gerald Schroeder's The Science of God tries to reconcile the Genesis 1 chronology with modern scientific theory via General Relativity. It's worth a look.

Hugh Ross' Genesis Question takes a different approach -- he takes the creation of the universe and earth as having occurred in Gen 1:1 and the rest of the chapter is just about getting earth habitable. I think his version is more compatible with the text. It's also worthwhile checking out his organization's website: Reasons to Believe.

Genesis can't be reconciled with Science. Especially if you take it literally. Which is nonsense since it's POETRY :)

Theories based on philosophy or imagination...is not science.
The causes of some small evolutions are known, but so far it has been absolutely impossible to explain the most important evolution..

What was, was, and is what happened. No one knows the truth, anything less than the truth is a lie. Speculation is just that. If we learn enough about how we are made via the DNA molecule and other research we may someday know how creation worked. In light of seeking the truth do not guess, admit you do not know and become wise. Religions of lies and smoke and mirrors are very repulsive to the truly intelligent and God himself being among them take care not to insult such a powerful being with your speculation, for he no doubt knows the truth, whoever and wherever he/she/they are!

Human beings like to devise and share stories. What if the truth is something that defies any kind of expression? Some people believe the truth is only something that can be realized in silence. When we stop talking, and our inner talk stops, we come face-to-face with truth. Its very different from what you have ever been told about the past. Its not a thought or somebody somewhere would want to express it. That which is expressed by silence, how could that be conveyed by sound? It is an experience. Its not a thought. Its not a story. its for each of us to discover in our own way. What about you? Are you up 4 it?

Hi there and thankyou for commenting on this topic.. although I have not recieved the torrent of scathing abuse I did expect as posts of this nature tend to attract....

Liara...
It is a Wise person who stops to listen to the voice within, and leave the preconcieved thoughts and opinions behind them...
I am as you put up 4 most things, however with my such for faith and relgions and my understanding of the complexities held there in I have become a little conscious... up 4 what where you referring...

The words written on a book must be taken for what they are, Holy Bible, a nice book that the Church has modified at its own pleasure in all these centuries. Your mind must come before any book.

E.K.

This is superb. I have thought along the same lines myself, but didn't think of the fact that time in space is relative... that's a good justification for the thought process...
:)

But I get stuck somewhere. I can't really remember where. One of the points was that the sequence... If we are trying to relate ways in which 'the bible is actually true; it's just that we have to interpret it right', then the sequence has to be segregated. i.e., the events on day 2 happened AFTER the events in day 1... even if the timeframe is not a 24 hour day as we know it now.

this means that god created day and night AFTER he created plants and vegetation. this again seems an aberration to science.

anyway, i stopped querying about these things a while back. it may not be worth the effort to validate the bible. beleiving is a matter of choice. personally, i think i'll just beleive in general, but still trust my own senses whenever i need to make a decision; i.e., i'll believe, but i won't do anything i don't feel right about, irrespective of what the bible says.

but it was nice to read your views. certainly refreshing

:)

Have you tried to find what Islam says about the formation of the universe? If you are interested, you can have a look at this link :-)

All of this comes down to what you want to believe. Do you WANT to believe in evolution or some brand of it, because it is easy or convenient? I find the idea of evolution very compelling personally but as a believer in Christ I respectfully submit that the Bible is authoritative; it defines a day as separated by light and darkness...ie 24 hours. Not x billion years.

If you wanted to really leap you could say that the light represents "good" and the darkness "evil" but that's clearly not the case. Every interpretation of the Word is one step further away from its intent.

But I repeat: it comes down to what you want to believe.
